For me it appears around the jawline. I know if I eat a chunk of cheese or cup of yogurt, I’ll wake up the next morning with a pimple. Not just any pimple, but the cystic kind, the one that feels like it’s growing backwards and hitting my jawbone.
I was in my early 40’s when suddenly I felt I had similar acne issues my teenage sons were simultaneously battling. I wasn’t doing anything different to my skin. I didn’t have a dirty face that needed extra scrubbing.
I’ve learned to listen to my body. My body was once again changing and what I was able to eat and get away with in my 20’s and 30’s, wasn’t working now.
The research is out there, the You-Tube testimonials are also plenty. I’m just another person who can attest to the fact that eliminating certain foods and introducing healthy alternatives have made the biggest impact on my skin.
Diet is a grey area in the multi-billion dollar skin industry. There are studies showing diet has little to do with healthy skin and studies showing the opposite. Be what it may, my experience and the experience of many others can’t be ignored.
I desperately want a chunk of cheese and a bowl of ice cream, but I know my skin will pay a price. Listening to my body and following through on what it is saying hasn’t been easy. I didn’t listen to my body in my 20’s and 30’s, but when it started screaming to me in my 40’s, I’m choosing to listen.
Now, if I can only get it to quiet down…
